S.Wine @ Ben's Independent Grocer, Publika

Ever since I have visited Publika few weeks back, I have been wanting to return again for other restaurants. New makan place for me~ XD I had a chance (and mood :p) for brunch at Publika last weekend. We decided to give a try at S.Wine which is located at the B.I.G. supermarket as my friend has been showing me blog posts about it. :D Btw, it is non-halal.

It is located right at the back of the supermarket, beside a stall selling breads (called Breads if I am not mistaken.) At 12pm, the restaurant was quite quiet, which was out of my expectation. This is because it was super packed at The Red Beanbag at the same time when we went, I thought here will be more or less.

Should be able to guess what they serve here. XD

I like the ambiance where the lights are slightly deemed. They provide very good service too, most importantly, I did not see any foreign workers who do not understand English well. >.<" I had problems communicating with some of those foreign workers in some restaurants, which I do not really like it.

Phone camera angle too small, the S is gone.

I did not look at the menu properly actually. All I focused was "BREAKFAST"~ lol~ I cannot resist this word I do not know why. Their breakfast menu is available until 6pm. (There are people who wake up later than me! XD)

Om nom nom!

After ordering, we were served with plain water and complimentary breads which were still warm. :D I like! Came with a piece of butter. Just nice as I was duper hungry while waiting for my "breakfast".

Two little warm breads~ :D

A cup of Cappuccino to and Latte to start the day with~ Ahhh~ Nice. :D

We heart coffee~ <3

I already knew what I wanted to eat even before we reached. Lol~ I basically only use my brain to think of what to eat all day long. I had the Eggs Benedict (RM22), which is one of my favourite breakfasts besides those American Big Breakfast. XD It is actually poached eggs, placed on baked ham, some random vegetables which I do not know and english muffin (I love muffins weee~~ :p) Everything was fine besides the baked ham being too rough. It was kinda hard to cut it. Big portion for me.

Oh, Hello Ben!

The BF opted for the Mexicana Pulled Pork (RM31) without actually know what it is. FHL~ It's actually a mixture of baked beans and pulled pork top with poached egg, and it tasted a little bit spicy. It was served with a slice of toasted bread. The BF did not really like it though, probably because this was not what he expected lol~

Should the egg be mixed into the baked beans?

I heard that their other choices from the menu are quite good too. Will be back for more, especially the Pork satay~ :D Long live porkz~~ Lol~

This iz not pork. =.="

Balik Kampung Getaway @ KK, Sabah

Those who know me already knew that I am actually from Sabah. I was born in Kota Kinabalu but I grew up in KL anyway. Considered KL people ar? More like anak tiri KL.. T.T

Anyway, my Grandparents and some of my other relatives are still living in KK. I do not normally go back, my last visit was five years back with my friends. My relatives will normally come to KL for leisure while visiting us and my Mom who would be the only one who travels back more often. However, my Grandma is ill currently and I decided to fly back to KK to see her. My first flight trip alone. :D

While waiting to board alone. I haz my MP3 player~ XD

Whenever I am back in KK, I will have this deja vu feeling. I haven't been staying here for a long long long time but still those childhood memories are still with me. (I did not grow up in Grandma's place either, but we visit her almost everyday until I was 4 years old. lol) It was so good to be home. :D

Street number is censored. Lol~

One thing about being in Grandparents house is that they forever think that I am hungry wtf. The moment I was awake from sleeps or naps, the first question I got asked was "Are you hungry? I have cooked fill in the blank". Grandpa is very good in cooking. :D I feel so thankful that I still can drink the soup and dessert cooked by him. And he really treats my weak Grandma very well, to the extend that I feel like crying when I see him holding her hands while she's lying on the bed asking her "What soup do you want to drink later, I'll make it for you." T3T

My cute Grandpa! :D

Although my Grandma is weak, but she still have the little energy of making fun of my Grandpa. :D She likes to tease him on whatever he said and done. I feel so grateful to see them together. It always make my day~ Wish my Grandparents 長命百歲. XD

Beloved.

I also get to meet my new nephew (Do I call him nephew? My cousin's baby) for the first time. He is so big and haz huge head. Haha. He likes to play with people and smile a lot. :D

Hello World! :3

Btw, life in KK is really boring. lol. I think I won't survive there long. It is too slow. People there wake up super early at 6am and go to bed as early as 9pm. Night time was very slow for me. Luckily they still have Astro and Streamyx. :p Even the cats there are different and they are afraid of human. >.<" I saw one stray Siamese cat which my Grandpa feeds everyday (Grandpa is really a nice person!). But the cat ran away when I tried to get near and hid below the car resting. lol. It has very nice fur and blue eyes. XD

It iz really cute! XD

Another best thing about my Grandparents place is the mango trees~ I think they are older than me because I remember eating the mangoes at my Grandparents' house since I was a kid. And they are the best mangoes I have ever tasted in my life. No joke. :D

OMG. I am missing it already. :P'

They got old already and the mangoes became smaller. :( Hope I can get back to KK very soon to see my Grandparents again and eat mangoes. Ngahahaha~

The legendary mango tree at Grandparents' place!

The Red Beanbag @ Publika

I have long heard that there are many eateries opened up in Publika but I never had a chance to drop by. I would not have this place in mind also whenever I was thinking of something to eat. However, I remember to suggest it to my friend finally for our lunch on last weekend. Since we had never been there, we google-d around to choose a suitable restaurant for our lunch.. Actually brunch~ XD

We settled with the decision of going to The Red Beanbag. The reviews of this place are decent and there are alot of food choices there. To my surprise, the place was very packed when we reached around 12pm. Never thought people would go there so early. We were put into the waiting list. T.T

The real red bean bags. lol.

Luckily it was not too long after we were seated. The seating area is not too big, therefore the space is a little bit cramped. Moreover, it was quite noisy at the indoor.

That's the kitchen.

We were served a bottle of plain water which we finished when we left. I think we sat there for nearly two hours, watching tonnes of people came and being put into waiting list, and we happily clogging the place. XD

What got my attention was their breakfast. I was craving for big breakfast for quite some time but I did not have a chance to eat that. Looking at the selection of the choices, I gone berserk (Obviously I exaggerated -.-").

Brunch which ends on 3pm. People in KL wake up late. :D

The friend ordered a cup of Green Tea Sunshine (RM7). It supposed to be green tea with a pinch of pineapple. The pineapple smell was great but it did not taste that way though. It tasted like an ordinary green tea lor.

I had a cup of Latte (RM8), which was quite bold. Wonder how many shots of espresso they put it. I had to add some water into it. @.@"

Nice drawing with the foam. XD

I decided to choose the greediest one, RBB's Big Breakfast Fry-Up (RM19.90). It came with a selection of egg choices, beef or chicken sausage, and beef bacon or turkey ham; together with the normal stuffs: baked beans, toasted breads, sauteed mushroom and hashbrown. The sauteed mushroom was kind of tasteless though.

Big enough or not?

We shared a Classic French Toast (RM13.90) because we read that the review was not bad. It was good as the toast came with almond flakes on it, made it crunchy. :D Came with maple syrup and banana/strawberry chunks. The toast tasted better without the fruits. The banana was too sweet and the strawberry was too sour. :P Fussy us.

The waiter was kind of shock when we ordered so much. We are big eaters! :P

The friend had the Fowl Luck (RM25.90), which was a marinated chicken whole leg paired with olive and sauteed mushroom. I think the chicken was marinated not long enough, it was kind of tasteless if it was eaten without the sauce given. The meat was tender enough though.

Healthy.

We found a cute wording on the waiters' shirt. It is written "Use the force to summon me". They did not sense my force. I need to practice more on it wtf. And they are called the "Red Beanie"?

May the force be with you.

Moreover, we saw this small board on the table written on some promotions offered for some selected professions. The promotion is valid form 4th September to 12th October, where there is a 30% discount on the dinner bills during weekdays. I found my Techy Nerds on Week 5. FML I am a nerd. T.T You can take a look here if you are interested.

Short Hair iz High Maintenance!

Hey all~ I have been disappearing again! Lol.. Sorry but nothing exciting happened lately and I was busy as usual. Earlier I mentioned that I cut off my super long hair which I have kept for 10 years. After barely two months, my hair grew long again, touching my shoulder already. It looked very out-of-shape and hard to maintain since it kept curving outward. T.T

This was taken one week back, right after I blew it. I didn't know my hair can grow so fast.

Therefore, I went to the hair salon again. I thought of going to another salon initially but I could not find a good one, so I went back to the one earlier. The hairstylist damn want to cheat money one. She insisted me to do hair treatment, means more money lor. But the cheapskate me die also don't want to spend more that I should, so I only got the hairwash + cut for RM55. That is expensive ok! Not that she cut a lot. It's difficult to be a woman, with short hair. >.< I used to cut my hair once a year.

Anyway, I was very brave and told the stylist to cut my fringe, I said I want those dolly fringe. What was I thinking? o.O Once she started cutting, I felt a sense of regression. Lol! I should have kept my longer fringe. I ended up looking like a nerdy primary school kid. T.T

On the train. Devastated. T__T

The fringe is not even straight, it looks a little bit curvy. If you watch TVB dramas, my fringe now looks like the one 花家姐 had. FML.. Additionally, my forehead is very wide and big, so my front hair is not enough to cover it. My fringe looks very thin although the stylist already did her best to comb the hair from the middle of the head to the front.

My fringe iz so thin! >.<

*faint* Then I recalled that I had exactly the same hairstyle when I was studying in kindergarten. o.O I think it was cuter. Now I don't know what my colleagues and managers will say when I am back to work on Monday. Hope I still look convincing enough with my office wear. T___T

Oh hi cute me! I have so much fate with this hairstyle. T3T
