Last weekend, my close friend, YChen and I had a short break at Singapore. I only planned to have the trip around 2 weeks before it. Tried to get someone to accompany me and at the end, only she was free. :p The last time I been there was 6 years back, with the same person. Haha. I always wanted to go there ever since Universal Studio (USS) was opened but just couldn't find a chance. So we got our air tickets, room booking and USS tickets ready in few days. We met up with another friend, Yi-Pei, who is working in Singapore for the weekend. :D
After planned everything, only to realize that it was school holiday for both Malaysia and Singapore. LCCT was crowded (It always does anyway.), Singapore was crowded and USS was super crowded! >.< We stayed at a dorm hostel located in Chinatown, very very near to the MRT exit. I think less than 15 steps away, which is really a good location. Other than its location, it was really a bad idea staying there.
The hotel was full house and I think that they do not have enough staff to cater for it. Places were dirty especially the toilets. No shower gel and shampoo when they should be provided. Shaky bunk beds. It was like earthquakes when the person at the upper bunk moved. Moreover, there was this constant water dripping on the roof sound that we could hear all night, disturbing our sleeps as I am a truly light sleeper. Jeez...
Anyway, as soon as we met up with Yi-Pei, we headed towards Harbourfront via MRT to proceed to Sentosa with monorail. $3.00 for a return trip and it was seriously packed! But excited! :D
Human everywhere in USS, but the queues to take photos with the cartoon characters were not too bad. People there are efficient. Thumbs up! And we did not need to worry no one to take photos for us because we could always threw our camera to their crew and they were ready to snap photos for the crowd. XD
The USS contains a few sections, New York City, Ancient Egypt, Sci-fi City, The Lost World, Madagascar and the two which we stayed the longest, Hollywood and Far Far Away. I like the street and building structure in Hollywood.
I like the fairy tale feel in Far Far Away.
And I love Puss in Boots! XD
There are numerous of rides available in the USS, with the longest waiting time of 120 minutes for the Transformers Ride. o.O We skipped that at the beginning.
The first ride we took was the Human vs Cylon. The most obvious roller coaster ride there. Being a chicken, of course I chose the Human ride, felt safer~ :p
It was not a good idea going for that ride as the first. Due to lack of sleeps the night before (Our flight was at 6am wtf) and I screamed too loud and long (Sorry, I was excited. It have been quite some time since my last roller coaster ride), my gastric reflux. T.T I felt nausea but luckily Yi-Pei the Dietitian brought along some Histacs, so I got better after taking it.
After that I skipped most of the rides, even the Carousel. >.< Sorry girls, I scared I couldn't stand till the night if I go for another ride. Luckily, Yi-Pei didn't miss the Transformers Ride while YChen and me waited and rested. :D
We went for some of the stage shows. The best being the Water World where the first row of audience was soaked. It was an action performance depicted from the movie with the same name I supposed. The actors were seen climbing around and jumping into the water. It is not a suitable show for kids as it contains too much of explosions and noise. I would be scared if I were a kid. :p
Apart from stage shows, there were some street shows here and there while we were walking around. We got to see Sesame Street show, where few of the characters came out to do some dances and had the audience followed. Elmo was cute~ :D
Souvenirs shops were everywhere, but we (Only me actually) were more amused at the souvenirs shop at Far Far Away. I felt like buying whatever I saw. Hohoho. I am so obsessed with Puss in Boots! XD
There was a parade went on that day, probably on every weekend. It starts at 6:30pm and paraded through almost all sections. We got the front place but the Indian guy before us was annoying. His arms were out of the barricade all the time and he is tall. Most of my photos captured his arms.. Grrrrrr! >.<
The parade was not good. Too simple, nothing much. Nothing compared to those in Disneyland. I expect something more grand!
After the parade, we found our way to an Italian restaurant in USS. It was good and affordable la along the Hollywood street. We had some combos, and we need to pay $15 per person. Considered cheap in USS right? Moreover, the portion is quite big. XD
After om nom nom and some chit chats, it was almost 9pm, which was the time for fireworks! I have waited for it for the whole day~ We got a very strategic place for it as well. The fireworks were so near and I almost went blind looking at them. It was great. Yi-Pei and I were shouting and cheering (at the fireworks? o.O) We were very satisfied with the day. We then headed to the crowded monorail to get our way back to the lousy hostel for a rest.
P/S: I did not take any photos of the fireworks as I have a lousy camera and I was too excited looking at them that it did not even cross my mind to try taking photos. :p
